“Dark Days”
Alot of people told me about this film and I finally got around to watching this a few hours ago. I really enjoyed it. About 20 years ago the Freedom Tunnel, an abandoned subway tunnel, in New York City was a safe haven for many homeless people setting up shanty towns and making the best out of the situation. This film documents this, made by a British filmmaker who found this town after hanging around with them. Each person that is featured has their own story and their own individual character. What makes the story bold besides that is that it was shot in a grainy black and white filter. There is a rawness and electricity about the film that is just fascinating in the best possible way for a documentary.. Unfortunately, NYC has kicked out all these people and destroyed the towns. But, it will live on forever documented.
